#TeamCISD Families and Community,
I am writing to inform you about a significant change in Texas law that directly impacts Clifton ISD’s required response to e-cigarettes, vaping and related products.
The Texas legislature passed a new law, House Bill 114 (HB 114), that requires a student to be removed from class and placed in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) if the student possesses, uses, sells, gives or delivers to another person an e-cigarette on school grounds, at a school-related event or within a 300-foot radius of any school property.
HB 114 was enacted to respond to the increasing concerns of e-cigarette usage among youth and you can access the full version of the bill here: https://capitol.texas.gov/tlod...
Please take a moment to discuss the implications of this new law with your children, emphasizing the importance of adhering to school policies and laws for their own welfare, for the betterment of the school community as a whole and how they can be impacted by not adhering.
